Imperfections that are located near the front of the smile, on the anterior teeth, can have a negative impact on one’s overall appearance. Broken, stained, or gapped teeth can also cause a patient to feel self-conscious about their smile, resulting in less socialization, less talking, and less laughing. Patients who are dealing with these imperfections are encouraged to work with a cosmetic dentist to find out about aesthetic solutions that can help improve and enhance the smile. Drs. Rick Kline and Bret Davis of Smile Texas are pleased to offer an easy and reversible solution called Lumineers.

Dentists describe Lumineers

Lumineers are porcelain veneers that are made in a way that makes them reversible. Traditional porcelain veneers are ceramic facings that are bonded onto the front of the teeth to cover imperfections near the front of the smile.  However, traditional porcelain veneers also require patients to remove healthy enamel from their teeth for placement. This can be problematic, as it then keeps a patient with veneers instead of considering alternatives that would not impact the natural tooth structure. With Lumineers, patients can have facings bonded onto the front of their teeth without having to prepare them, making it a reversible solution if patients choose to move forward with a different treatment later on. Lumineers are similar to porcelain veneers, but are even thinner, ensuring they do not add bulk when they are bonded in place.

What are the benefits of Lumineers?

Lumineers have several advantages which make them a desirable choice for patients. Lumineers:

• Do not require natural tooth enamel removal

• Are made faster than traditional porcelain veneers

• Are stain-resistant

• Are extremely thin, ensuring no bulk is added when placed

• Are very durable, often lasting patients many years before they need to be replaced

• Are an affordable and effective way to change issues in the front of the smile
